What changes the price

Long pipe runs

The first 3–4m is included. Beyond that expect £35–£55 per extra metre for pipework, cabling and trunking.

Scaffolding or high-level work

Most installs use ladders or a tower. Third-floor or awkward-access outdoor units can add £150–£400.

Condensate pump

£120–£180 when gravity drainage isn't possible — common on internal walls and loft rooms.

Electrical supply

A dedicated spur is usually £120–£200. Older consumer units may need an upgrade — we tell you before we start.

Brand choice

LG is our top pick for value and quiet running. Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric typically add 8–15%.

Decorative trunking or hidden pipework

Chasing pipework into walls for an invisible finish adds £200–£450 per room.

What's always included

Is it cheaper in winter?

Yes. Between October and March lead times are short and we can usually fit within a week. From May onwards the diary fills fast and prices firm up. If you know you want cooling for next summer, booking in winter is the single easiest way to save money.

Running costs

A modern inverter unit costs roughly 15–35p per hour to run in a bedroom, and it heats far cheaper than a gas boiler on mild days. Work out your own running cost →
